Biography
Cathy is a sculptor whose work captures the soul of her subjects with a blend of expressionistic energy and impressionistic sensitivity. Inspired by the emotional resonance of Degas and the dynamic vitality of Bugatti, her sculptures are graceful yet grounded—intended to delight, to move, and to endure.
Working primarily in bronze, Cathy creates limited edition works that range from intimate tabletop pieces to monumental sculptures over 14 feet tall. Her studio on the beach in Vero Beach, Florida offers the space and light for large-scale work, and her process is deeply informed by travel, research, and the natural world. Every sculpture reflects a deep connection to her subjects—whether wildlife, the human figure, or movement itself—and she matches material and method to the story each form tells.
Her artistic journey began in childhood after moving from Michigan to Florida. Encouraged by early success—including awards from the Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach—Cathy pursued formal studies at the University of Michigan, Florida Atlantic University (BA), and the University of Miami (MA in Sculpture). Her training continued in Italy, where commissions created in Pietrasanta and Carrara found homes in private and public collections across Milan, West Germany, and Paris. She also apprenticed with Luis Montoya at Studios International and continues to refine her craft alongside many master sculptors and other artists.
Cathy is an active member of several of the most respected art organizations in the United States, including the Salmagundi Club, Pen and Brush, Allied Artists of America, the Society of Animal Artists, and American Women Artists. Her work has been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally.
Whether a few inches tall or soaring over fourteen feet, each of Cathy’s sculptures is a celebration—of form, spirit, and joy.
